Rainbow Lodge Estate is a beautiful farm in the heart of Mpumalanga, and is on the panorama route, halfway from Johannesburg to the Kruger National Park (just 200km from Pretoria and 250km from Johannesburg), which makes it an ideal place for a stop over. You will find Rainbow Lodge to be an enchanting jewel situated in the heart of the Highlands Meander, a beautiful part of Mpumalanga, noted for it’s clear streams, lakes and breathtaking scenery.

Rainbow lodge is the ideal getaway for couples who are seeking a romantic weekend away or the whole family in need of a break from the hustle and bustle of the city to a beautiful tranquil environment. Rainbow lodge is only 10km from the N1 highway and close to the very popular country town of Dullstroom.

Some History

Uli your friendly host bought the farm, which was a portion of a bigger farm called Groenvlei about 26 years ago, but it was 16 years ago that he had a dream to build a lodge on the farm. He quickly realised that the only way to materialise a dream was start and take one step at a time towards his dream.

He started training and employing local labour to help him build the cottages with timber from the farm. In particular a retired carpenter of 72 years who had worked at one of the local saw mills, helped him with fitting out the cottages on the inside.

Phase 1 and 2 of the development is complete with 5 self catering country cottages sleeping between 2 and 6 people each depending on your requirements.

Future Plans

Rainbow Lodge is in the process of being divided into an estate with units available to be purchased by prospective investors as a home out of the city. Phase 3 has already started and in phase 4 he has plans to develop a green, environmentally friendly housing project that will engage owners to integrate sustainability principles like clean water, green energy, and building methods.
