Testimonials

In the short time I have spent here, Rainbow Lodge has settled deep within my heart. It is indeed a small piece of heaven on earth. What a huge honour and privilege to have been chosen to build the website for such a beautiful place! I hope I have done it justice….Thank you Uli. Daniel Smith

My whole family absolutely loved the place, it’s peace and tranquility was exactly what we needed. The lodges are nice and cosy and sitting in front of the fire place during the thunderstorms in the afternoon is the perfect setting. Uli is a wonderful host, easy to talk to and very accommodating we will definitely return over and over again to this wonderful place. We recommend this place to anyone who’s looking at getting away from city life just to enjoy nature and get some R&R. Its not just perfect for a family get away but as a romantic get away for two as well. Anja Sales

We really enjoyed the calm and serene atmosphere at Rainbow Lodge. Away from all the hustle of city life, one can find oneself again in this peaceful setting. Thanks to Uli and his dogs for welcoming us. We will definitely go again Mr Enslin

At the end of a dirt road, a wonderful place with a lake surrounded by very comfortable wood houses. Lovely accommodation, all made in wood, with a chimney, and very nice welcome by the owner Sarah (France)

Reception was very friendly. Accommodation is well kept, well equipped and very reasonably priced. Thanks for supplying chopped firewood (free of charge) next to the much-appreciated fire place; fishing gear available for hire also very reasonably priced (or free of charge if only used for a very short time).
The setting is beautifully tranquil and restorative. Visiting the lodge in spring the pastoral feeling was accentuated as the smell of daffodils filled the air and the almost sprouting trees lightened up the scenery. What a pity that we are so far away; this would have been a regular break away for us for sure. Helga (Namibia)

My mum and sister were visiting from Mauritius and we joined up with the rest of the family living near Hoedspruit at this fabulous lodge. Unfortunately, it was only for 24 hours but what a relaxing environment! The hosts are very friendly and their love of nature quite obvious. The beautiful show of flowers at the entrance of the lodge welcomes you as well as their friendly dogs. Very peaceful place, we will definitely come back for a long weekend and enjoy the walks. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Rainbow Lodge. The log cabin was very comfortable and we had a beautiful view. There is so much peace and tranquillity and our host, Uli was extremely helpful. The kitchen needs a few more utensils and a TV or radio would be great. I would definitely recommend Rainbow Lodge to anyone and we will go back to visit. Mrs Steyn (South Africa)

thank you Uli and your wonderful wife for preparing a wonderful stay at your lodge with our little grandsons. we will definitely recommend your lodge to our friends and family who have small children. the bottom storey lodge was ideal for us all, and the walks and park-like grounds were fantastic for the two 2-year old grandsons. they too had a fantastic time “trying to fish in the dam”.

Thank You very much for an amazing 5day stay at your wonderfull venue Uli. One can see that alot of time and effort gets put into making this destination such a wonderfull and beautifull one. The stay was gr8, the view was gr8 and the Fishing was pretty good to, but definitely needs some extra attention. To much Bass and Grass in Dams but never the less still had good fishing and Managed a few Decent Trouts. The Trout and the Bass are in Excellent Condition. We will definitely come stay at Rainbow Lodge many more times to come:)

Just Came back to Johannesburg from Rainbow Lodge. What a beautiful peaceful little place. The accommodation was perfect. The scenery is beautiful and quiet. The Log Cabins are well furnished and well equipped. Close to Belfast for any emergency shopping… we ran out of ice…loll. I Just wished the dams were stocked with more with fish. It was my Son’s first fly fishing trip and we did not catch one fish. Nor did we see the trout come up…. we did see very small trout at night but that was it. The dams could also do with a bit of a clean and maybe easier access to the second dam. Other than that ! I will definitely be back ! and will recommend Rainbow Lodge to anyone ! Thank you Shaun for your excellent service and help.

Nice place. Has a lot of potential. Needs owner attention
Unfortunately the “Fishing ” was extremely disappointing.
x2 of the 3 dams are totally dry and the 3rd is quite low. No fish activity at all.
Was not informed of the dam situation upon making the booking with the farm manager.

A lot of money, and not even able to fish. Would definitely have gone somewhere else for the weekend, if I had know. Other dams in area where in better condition, level wise. Drought said to be the issue with rainbow lodges dams ??

Saying this, the accommodation was fair; stayed in unit7
Cleaning staff not really active though.
Braai and fire place never cleaned once during our 3 day stay

Another wonderful getaway to Rainbow Lodge, friendly and relaxed, clean and well equipped. If you need a break definitely highly recommended. A cosy fireplace, nature walks, lovely views of the rising moon over the dam, especially on full moon weekend. Listening to the owls and watching the bats swooping out at dusk.. just awesome. We don’t fish so the level of the dams are of no consequence to us, everything is just lovely and peacefull. Thanks Shaun you are doing a great job and much appreciated!

Had the most amazing weekend with my dogs at Rainbow Lodge this weekend. It’s absolutely beautiful, my balcony overlooked the lake with a backdrop of the pine forest. Lovely walks, comfortable beds and a fire is a definite. Can’t wait to come back in summer!

Spent the most beautiful weekend with my hubby at Rainbow Lodge for our anniversary. The resort is well maintained in the most stunning grounds, if you are looking for a peaceful time away this is the place to go to. Sledge and his fur babies definitely added to that experience with his warm welcome and going out if his way to even get a thoughtful anniversary gift for my hubby and I.
Thank you Sledge for making our stay at your beautiful resort such a lovely experience.
